reap the wild wind

Reap The Wild Wind 1942, Starring John Wayne, Paulette Goddard, Ray Milland and Raymond Massey. Clipper ships taking the shortest route between the Mississippi and the Atlantic often end up on the shoals of Key West in the 1840s. Salvaging the ships' cargos has become a lucrative business for two companies -- one headed by the feisty young woman Loxi Claiborne {Paulette Goddard}. Then she falls in love with  Captain Jack Stuart {John Wayne} of a wrecked ship while he recuperates at her home. She travels to Charleston and is charming to the man most likely to be head of the captain's company, thinking she will be able to get the captain the position he wants on the company's first steam ship.

Red River 1948, Starring John Wayne, Montgomery Clift, Joanne Dru and Walter Brennan. Thomas Dunson {John Wayne} builds a cattle empire with his adopted son Matthew Garth {Montgomery Clift}. Together they begin a massive cattle drive north from Texas to the Missouri railhead. But on the way, new information and Dunson's tyrannical ways cause Matthew to take the herd away from Dunson and head to a new railhead in Kansas. Dunson, swearing vengeance, pursues.

Ride Him Cowboy 1932, Starring John Wayne, Duke, Ruth Hall, Henry B. Walthall and Frank Hagney. John Drury {John Wayne} saves Duke {Duke}, a wild horse accused of murder, and trains him. John agrees to look for the outlaw known as the Hawk and Henry Simms {Frank Hagney} volunteers to help him. But Simms is the Hawk and he leaves Drury in the desert to die. Simms then kills a man and plants John's harmonica at the scene. With the help of his horse Duke, John returns only to find that he is accused of murder and about to face the hanging Judge.

In the meantime, matters are complicated by the presence of a young gunslinger {Ricky Nelson} and a mysterious beauty {Angie Dickinson} who just came in on the last stagecoach.

rio grande

He whips him into shape to take on the Apaches but not before his mother {Maureen O'Hara} shows up to take him out of there. The decision to leave is left up to Trooper Yorke who decides to stay and fight. Through it all Kirby and Kathleen though separated for years fall back into love and decide that it's time to give it another try. But Yorke faces his toughest battle when his unorthodox plan to outwit the elusive Apaches leads to possible court- martial. Locked in a bloody Indian war, he must fight to redeem his honor and save the love and lives of his broken family

Sagebrush Trail 1933, Imprisoned for a murder he did not commit, John Brant {John Wayne} escapes and ends up out west where, after giving the local lawmen the slip, he joins up with an outlaw gang. Brant finds out that 'Jones' {Lane Chandler}, one of the outlaws he has become friends with, committed the murder that Brant was sent up for, but has no knowledge that anyone was ever put in jail for his crime. Willing to forgive and forget, Brant doesn't realize that 'Jones' has not only fallen for the same pretty shop girl {Nancy Shubert} Brant has, but begins to suspect that Brant is not truly an outlaw.
